With Big Soul Project, you sing for joy

Elvis would love it. A choir that can't hold still, just has to sway and clap and grin, one member shimmying, another whacking the tambourine while the soloist strikes rock poses and the piano player bops with the manic joy of Jerry Lee Lewis.

Best of all, you don't even have to be able to sing to join this crew.

Big Soul Project, previously known as the Ottawa Community Gospel Choir, is a non-audition choir, one of a handful of such groups among the city's 20-odd community choirs. That means you just show up at one of its Monday night rehearsals at First United Church on Kent Street, open your mouth, and you've suddenly got 50 new friends.  continued page 2
